The Five Hotel - Paris
Nestled in the heart of Paris’s 5th district in the Saint Germain des Prés quarter, this little 24-bedroom hotel has all the pedigree of a large one but with intimacy to boot. The owners, Philippe Vaurs and Pascal Laffont, have called upon the services of Vincent Bastie, an interior designer already renowned for highly successful hotel refits like those of the Murano and the Hotel du Petit Moulin. The atmosphere is both warm and reminiscent of the designer’s previous glories. For example, after a long walk in the capital, you can warm yourself up in the lobby by the glow of a dual-hearth fireplace rising from an ebony-black floor. In the bedrooms, fantasy reigns supreme: you’ll find yourself immersed in a world of fairy tales over which the works Isabelle Emmerique rule benignly, illuminated by fiber optics embedded in walls and ceilings for a highly romantic feel under a star-lit sky.
